Andrew Copson [Andrew Copson OBE - Humanists UK | LinkedIn ], CEO of Humanist UK [Humanist UK], has been awarded an OBE in the recent Honours List.

Andrew Copson awarded OBE in first-ever UK award for ‘Services to the Non-Religious’.

This is fabulous news and a very worthy recognition of the work Andrew leads across so many aspects of social justice to put humanism into practice through effective campaigning and services, supporting lasting change for happier, more fulfilling lives.  

Here at NSPC,  we are thrilled that the work championed by Andrew on equitable access for people to pastoral care support services [see Non-Religious Pastoral Support Network]. regardless of their worldview. is being highlighted through this honour. NSPC’s  partnership with Humanists UK around the pastoral care postgraduate programme of study [see MA in Pastoral Care: Existential and Humanist Practice | NPSC Ltd] is key to developing the relatively new profession of existential pastoral and spiritual support within chaplaincy.  This is a growing and exciting profession to become a part of and recently the success of Humanists UK lobbying has ensured that armed forces are to recruit first non-religious pastoral officers.

Andrew is at the forefront of so many key initiatives and currently he is instrumental in lobbying for the Assisted Dying Bill to go through Parliament. Andrew will be speaking about this work at the Existential Academy conference.
