About
Claire is a UKCP registered and Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist (Metanoia), and a BPS Chartered Psychologist by PhD. Claire is an experienced teacher/ trainer and has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate level students in disciplines including psychology, forensic psychology and criminology, psychological wellbeing and mental health, and psychotherapy and counselling, as well as supervising MSc and PhD dissertations in university contexts since 2004.
Claire runs a part-time private clinical practice in Nottingham (and online).
Claire is particularly interested in collaborative practice and in developing interdisciplinarity relationships in mental health and emotional wellbeing. She has a passion for integrating the landscape of theory and practice between psychology, psychiatry, allied health disciplines and psychotherapy. Areas of clinical experience include
anxiety, low-mood, the role of the body in mental health, men’s health (especially gay, bisexual, and queer men’s health), LGBTQ+ wellbeing, creative and ‘artistic’ approaches to such as music and its potential
for positive therapeutic impact, mental health in musicians and within the music industry, how we construct, define, and evolve our ‘identity’, culture, intersectionality, and stigma, power and oppression. Claire has experience with working with people living with HIV and this has been a particular interest for many years in different contexts. Claire has some further specialist training in sensorimotor psychotherapy (Level 1), and EMDR (fully trained: Levels 1-3)
Other key interests of Claire's includes culture, travel, nature, animals, art, and is an independent musician.
