About
For over 23 years, Ho has actively contributed to the British Psychological Society (BPS) through various Member Network Committees. Formerly a senior scientist and the inaugural equality advisor to the Assistant Permanent Under Secretary of State in the Research, Development & Statistic Directorate of the Home Office and Cabinet Office (COBRE), Ho's dedication to community empowerment and extensive involvement in mental health underscore his passion for psychotherapy. With 35 years of psychology experience, he is steadfast in promoting and enhancing the accessibility of psychotherapy to address post-pandemic challenges. Ho champions psychotherapy and social prescribing in communities, exemplified by his voluntary work in the Chinese community in Peterborough, earning the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2023-24 and the Social Care Award for his company Empsy® (Empowerment Psychology) in 2022-23. He acquired the skills of narrative techniques from the late Michael White (the founder of narrative therapy) in the Dulwich Centre, Adelaide, South Australia in 2006. Between 2009-2015 Ho led MSc Coaching Psychology Programmes Health Coaching and research modules (distance learning and on-campus) at the School of Psychology, University of East London, which Ho was nominated by students as the Best Supervisor and won the first Student-Led Teaching Award across the whole university in 2013. In 2015-2016, Ho was contracted by the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education as its Coaching Programme Advisor and developed a new Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching. Ho Law is currently Psychotherapy Section Chair of The BPS the its Review Editor, supervising research doctorate students, advocating the new narrative action research while dividing his time between research, supervision, writing, and family.
